Veloren is a multiplayer voxel RPG written in Rust. It is inspired by games such as Cube World, Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Dwarf Fortress and Minecraft.
I clicked on the link and almost immediately went "is this an attempt to make cube world because the cube world guy didnt make cube world"
It pretty much is.
Haven't played it all that much but I might give it a try, it looks like it's coming together quite nicely.
Might even join the development, I've been itching to join an open source project.
And it looks like they aren't a bunch of techbros:
It has unfortunately come to our attention that Veloren's assets, code, and imagery have, on occasion, been used to promote malicious scams such as 'pump-and-dump' schemes, often involving cryptocurrency or NFTs. The core development team is clear: Veloren is not, and will never be, a for-profit project, nor do we wish to be associated with regressive, socially harmful technology like cryptocurrency.
Open-source multiplayer RPG
Sounds a bit shit
voxel
Oh fuck nvm I'm in
It's good, or at least it was like a year ago when some friends and I messed with it. However, it's got some of the gnarliest Rust code I've ever seen in my life. Like cool for making it work, but fuuuuuuck it's got some idiosyncratic shit going on under the hood. Cool game though, play it.
Wake me up when it gets to v1.0
Had enough beta versions to last me a lifetime
