How the fuck do people mess up this badly? Surely him talking to his fiancee shoulda gone like ‘Hey, so I have an award ceremony coming up. My co workers are massive bellends who somehow think it’s not manly if you come too and somehow they also think they are cowboys. I’d personally love to have you there, but I’d understand if you didn’t wanna come along cos of all that crap.’

He should've just not tell the fiance about the award ceremony instead of going, "Sorry, you can't come because no girls allowed" lmao.

I dunno not telling her seems pretty deceptive. I'd be kinda upset if my wife was invited to an award ceremony but didn't tell me cos she had been pressured into not inviting me. It'd feel like she thought I couldn't handle knowing about it which at best would seem patronising.

I wasn't clear in my comment. He obviously should bring his fiance to the award ceremony because if nothing else, he's not going to stay in that company for more than a decade, especially with the recession that's happening. while a marriage is a potential lifetime relationship. Not only was he convinced by some coworker like a dumbass, but he also did it in the least socially competent way possible.

But I suppose this is to be expected from your average Redditor.
