Shorting has to be one of the most mask off financial instruments available. It's literally only available to the ultra wealthy, and the transaction leaves at least one party in a financially worse position, either by forcing the value of an asset lower than it would go at a faster rate, or causing damage to the institution doing the shortselling. The justification is that it forces a correction, but I think it's one of the places where the veil is thinnest and normal people can see what a load of bullshit this all is.

But not our Trussy! Couldn't be precious Trussy! Stealing them blind! And she gets to be a PM!? What a sick joke! I should've stopped her when I had the chance!

Or something from a cookie (biscuit?) recipe. A shortened pound of butter. A full pound is too much, you have to take a bit off to get the dough right.

It took me a solid 20 seconds to realize it had to do with currency.

Where do they think they'e going to go when their own country is bankrupt? Fart around in Scandinavia? Build a micronation somewhere in the Pacific? Attempt to build a moon colony? They don't get to flee consequences forever.

And what, are we in the "end of history"? Nothing can change forever? America is only a few centuries old, we have no idea how long a long period of time looks like. Sparta was a self-consuming failure of a military dictatorship and it still lasted longer than America. Capital will die, and we will watch while it happens.

Unfortunately? When the bread and circuses can't cover up the pain anymore. The incoming end of the US dollar as global currency might just do it.

The people that rule us are mostly fincial capitalists, so their lich phylactory is tied up in dollar hegemony they haven't existed in a time and place outside of that way of solving every crisis to capital. Big stuff is happening, I reckon they will be maulding in a gulag 20-30 years ago about how Ukraine war ruined everything.

This has the potential for a Chuck Tingle adventure: "Pounded in the :butt: by the British Pound."
