I mean, it's not secret at all, they just call you a putinist if you know about it, but like two tweets down he admits he knows about arming Syrian rebels but apparently that's just not as bad because reasons?

I love how liberals’ evidence of the CIA not committing crimes against humanity anymore is based on vibes. It’s always “I just don’t feel like they’d do it anymore you know?” Just absolutely empty skull

When the details differentiating the soulless, managerial class husks from the rabid skinheads can be summarized in a few dozen bullet points, what else do you have besides 'vibes' if you're a PMC lib?

You are the CIA in the 1970s. Do you:

    A) Cease funding fascists, executing coups, and disrupting popular leftist movements worldwide apropos of nothing and in spite of the tangible gains it has realized for US empire

    OR

    B) Just do all that but deny it and count on some 21st century libbrained rube to run interference for you on some bird website

Idk this is looking pretty tough :thonk:

they respect the norms of the International Community when they commit extrajudicial murder.

They wear a bowtie when they throw 1 million Indonesians into a woodchipper

Normal schemes are when you have extremely stovepiped and decentralized ops like Iran-Contra and 9/11 which involved everyone from Presidents/PMs/5 star generals all over the world, all the way down to random dudes off the street to push drugs to fund operations or idk, do some shit like bomb a building in OKC

And everyone once in a while, we have "real journalists" over at a rag like the Intercept talking about how much of a bumbling operation the CIA is, which then gets used as blunt instrument to beat down anyone questioning official narratives -- "just one degree away from Alex Jones"

That angle always bugged me - if the CIA is a secret organization then ofc we'd hear more about their failures than their successes.

keep in mind 50 years from now, when and if they declassify all the stuff they did between 1980 and 2010. you can bet your sweet cheeks there will be cyberpunk liberals saying "Well that's just stuff they did back THEN early in the century. They don't do that stuff anymore"

The window for this shit always moves. It's the same trick they use to pretend racism is over, or that modern capitalism is more humane than Ebenezer Scrooge era capitalism.

The tweet may as well say "I am exactly the kind of person a limited hangout works on".

'Hey look, I know it turned out that space CIA bombed critical lunar infrastructure during the water strikes, kidnapped and tortured martian sepratists and supplied ship to ship nukes to the Titan Fascist League but that was way back in the 2100's. There's no reason to suspect they are behind the shuttle bombing that just happened to kill the key leaders of the Jovian collective, that's conspiracy nonsense!'

The CIA and origin of modern intelligence agencies was the most professionalised time in history. From the blueprint of the OSS through to at least the 1970s they were literally all from the same schools, the same families, and often the same companies. It was such a fucking boys club that they literally turned a blind eye to people high up in their own orgs being double agents just because they were friends and colleagues. Read the history of these bow-tie wearing motherfuckers, I beg you. :picard-annoyed:

And even if you did believe the absurd notion they somehow "professionalised" and gave up the... checks notes... shit they were always designed to do, then the history of Gladio is as a stay-behind operation so it wouldn't fucking matter! All those hidden weapon caches, slush funds, and unhandled terror actors don't just magically turn into lanyards, lunch expense accounts, and NGO middle management. What the fuck are you talking about? :picard:
