Worried I’ll lose a lot of energy though.

Edit: should’ve written that I meant “intermittent fasting”

My bad 😞

I've done intermittent fasting for like 2-3 years now. You can talk to experts but my personal layman take is we are too obsessed with finding the "best" or "optimal" way of eating and exercising.

The best way to eat and workout is whatever fits in consistently with your lifestyle. Everyone is obsessed with "human beings evolved to do X" but really if anything I think we evolved to be pretty flexible.

I like doing intermittent fasting because I have a pretty hectic high speed lifestyle as a single dad. Being able to cut breakfast and lunch out of my day nets me more hours. Wake up and sign into work early, drop kiddo off at school, get a workout in instead of lunch, and then when I clock out for the day and grab kiddo I can basically eat as much as I feel like at dinner without fretting too seriously over calories.

That said: sometimes if it's the middle of the day and I'm feeling super lethargic and unable to focus I'll go and make and scarf down a pb&j real quick.

Might be confirmation bias, but this is sorta the answer m I was looking for. I’ll clarify that I mean “intermittent fasting” in the post. Kind of just want more control of my intake as I’ve been feeling pretty unhealthy lately.

After doing some more reading, thinking of going 16:8 to start and then heading to 18:6 if it’s working. Sounds like you didn’t necessarily adhere to hours though huh?
