Real talk, anyone know what's going on with that guy? I saw the picture of him getting escorted out, but all the articles I saw were extremely western and not what I wanted to read lol.

I don't think anyone can know? Official statement is just that he was ill, which is obviously not what the video shows.

Unless the guy has alzheimers or something I can't explain it other than they wanted him kicked out for some reason. Everything about it can only be speculation when it's obvious the "feeling unwell" thing doesn't quite match the video.

I think alzheimers is a generous and good-faith way to speculate based on the official explanation being true. They have lucidity and then funny-turns quite suddenly and if he had a turn they may have wanted him removed on the basis of how he might act during one.

As someone currently in the process of losing their god damn mind and as someone who understands neurological breakdowns quite well, I'm 98% sure that what China says is accurate. He legitimately looks confused as to where he is at the moment and his aide is simply helping him in as polite and dignified a way as possible. I, some random Westerner of the internet with no medical degree, obviously can't diagnose him from a video but I see literally no reason to doubt Chinese press on this one

I'm really sorry to hear that :/ This is probably one of my biggest fears, I actually swore off certain drugs after trying them because the brain fog feeling I was getting physically and emotionally made me uncomfortable. That being taken to a permanent degree and even further scares the shit out of me :(

I know I'm only talking about myself here but just wanted to illustrate how I feel and how much I sympathise because of it.

To me "ill" and "unwell" are different. I think illness I see as something you can get better from, temporary, whereas dementia very much isn't something you get better from. I dunno, translation probably plays a role here anyway.

This guy's medical records > Congress video > Chinese media > International media > Western media > Hexbear

Yeah of course we're never going to really know the truth playing this absurd game of broken telephone

Yeah that's what I said, it's only going to be speculation and the best read here is that what they meant with their explanation is actually some sort of dementia thing. The "not feeling well" or "came down with an illness" different interpretations of the official statement sound like someone having a headache or poorly tummy and would involve that person very willingly leaving the room (with help). But what we see in the video is a pretty agitated man needing to be gently be forcefully removed, who with some coaxing becomes willing. Reads less like illness and more like a dementia turn to me.

Kinda repeating myself but wanted to word it differently I guess because my original wording seems to have rubbed some people the wrong way?

Yeah, I was under the same impression as you. I read online a bit and saw stuff about Jintao being unwell. Apparently he was escorted in as well (which is left out of any Western press I saw). I wanted to see it for myself and another user posted the video on here.

Comparing that footage to the shot of him being escorted out, the person doing the escorting is probably the same person, he's wearing the same tie, but has a mask on later so I can't say for sure. The Congress lasts like a week though so the video of him getting led in was on the 16th and the escorting out happened on the 22nd. It's hard to say what transpired there.

This is what everyone's freaking out about? He was even handed a folder with notes...

It looks like someone noticed he was having a moment and had his assistant come in and grab him. Literally the exact same way you'd get your sundowning Grandpa out of church.
