Playing with aquifers is very fun. Water is fun in general, and with screwpumps! It's good practice for other fun fluids.

I enjoy my fun fluid best when it is 1500°C and made of various rare earth elements

It's ridiculously difficult to dig down through an aquifer and when you do, it's always a possibility you forget/mess up sometime later and flood your fort. Open aquifer tiles are treated as an inexhaustible water source.

I've played this game like a thousand hours and I still have never gone through the aquifer without using winter air to freeze it first.
