How will you make the world - whatever corner of it you're in - a better place in 2023?

I'll start: there's a local community group that sorts and repairs donated clothes for unhoused people. Always been too shy, and maybe too cynical, to really pay attention to them before, but I think my 2023 resolution is to join them and get to sewing up some jeans.

Those jeans (and socks, oh socks should never be underestimated for the unhoused) will be very important to someone soon. :order-of-lenin:

I will continue volunteering locally and do my part to make unhoused people suffer less whenever possible. :im-doing-my-part:

This isn't the only thing I plan to do, but one thing I'm really trying to work on is myself. I feel like I get too cynical about things. I don't want to be toxic to people who care about me. I want to do a better job of expressing myself and my views in an amicable way to people I respect enough to understand them, even if they don't necessarily agree.

Just focusing on keeping my kids alive through a pandemic, especially as almost everyone around me pretends that there is no pandemic. Community volunteer work and political activism is fun and cool and puts me in a good mood for days but everything and everyone is at least a forty minute drive away, one way, along icy roads.
