And the one Fire Emblem game(FE 3 Houses) that somewhat subverts this general narrative of the series in one of its paths(Black Eagles) is the most controversial and hated while the most ideologically monarchical/pro status-quo path(Blue Lions) is the most loved and least hate-bombed. The Black Eagles path even mentions the sexual/physical violence women face with their magic system(crest) and how systemic it is under the current order.
Wait FE3H is hated? I thought it was a huge success?? It was the best-selling Fire Emblem game and I don't recall a broad dislike of the game on the subreddit. Compare that with Pokémon that does have great sales but is now very divisive.
Sorry it was unclear, I was referring to the most openly anti status-quo branching path(Black Eagle) of the 3 story paths in FE 3 Houses not the game itself. I recall the subreddit having a hate boner for the Black Eagle path, which funnily enough contains pseduo-liberal revolutionary ideas in a fantasy medieval setting and the Black Eagle main lord being a class traitor. The hate for it is probably way toned down from the early days.
Ohh yes I understand that path was quite divisive. It certainly didn't help that Dimitri and Edelgard are practically different people in each other's routes, and lots of people were arguing from the POV of the route they chose... Ah yes those arguments were annoying.

Series is generally pretty awful though. :cringe:
