Image is of Russian Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavrov, with Sudanese Foreign Minister, Maryam al-Sadiq al-Mahdi, at a news conference in Khartoum.

Russia, China, and the United States have been scrambling for Africa over the last year.

Lavrov has recently been to Mali, Mauritania, and Sudan. Last year, he went to South Africa, Eswatini, Angola, Eritrea, Egypt, Ethiopia, Uganda, and the PRC. I'm actually having trouble finding consistent lists, he's been zipping around so much. He's reinforced ties with Sudan and their Russian naval base, and South Africa is holding naval exercises with China and Russia.

Qin Gang, the new Chinese Foreign Minister, has been to Angola, Gabon, Benin, Egypt, and Ethiopia - notably, the first diplomatic tour he's been on since being appointed FM, as others before him (in a 30 year tradition).

Meanwhile, Janet Yellen has gone to Senegal, Zambia, and South Africa. And, of course, Biden invited leaders from all across Africa to the US-Africa Leaders Summit in December 2022.

Resources For Understanding The War Beyond The Bulletins

Defense Politics Asia's youtube channel and their map. I recommend their map more than the channel at this point, as an increasing subscriber count has greatly diminished their quality.

Moon of Alabama, which tends to have good analysis (though also a couple bad takes here and there)

Understanding War and the Saker: neo-conservative sources but their reporting of the war (so far) seems to line up with reality better than most liberal sources. Beware of chuddery.

Alexander Mercouris, who does daily videos on the conflict. While he is a reactionary and surrounds himself with likeminded people, his daily update videos are fairly brainworm-free and good if you don't want to follow Russian telegram channels to get news. The Duran, of which he co-hosts, is where the chuddery really begins to spill out.

On the ground: Patrick Lancaster, an independent journalist reporting in the Ukrainian warzones.

Unedited videos of Russian/Ukrainian press conferences and speeches.

Telegram Channels

Again, CW for anti-LGBT and racist, sexist, etc speech, as well as combat footage.

Pro-Russian

https://t.me/aleksandr_skif ~ DPR's former Defense Minister and Colonel in the DPR's forces. Russian language.

https://t.me/Slavyangrad ~ Gleb Bazov, banned from Twitter, referenced pretty heavily in what remains of pro-Russian Twitter.

https://t.me/asbmil ~ Now rebranded as Battlefield Insights, they do infrequent posts on the conflict.

https://t.me/patricklancasternewstoday Patrick Lancaster's telegram channel.

https://t.me/gonzowarr ~ Front news coverage. Russian langauge.

https://t.me/rybar ~ One of the really big pro-Russian (except when they're being pessismistic, which is often) telegram channels focussing on the war. Russian language.

https://t.me/epoddubny ~ Russian language.

https://t.me/boris_rozhin ~ Russian language.

https://t.me/mod_russia_en ~ Russian Ministry of Defense. Does daily, if rather bland updates on the number of Ukrainians killed, etc. The figures appear to be approximately accurate; if you want, reduce all numbers by 25% as a 'propaganda tax', if you don't believe them. Does not cover everything, for obvious reasons, and virtually never details Russian losses.

https://t.me/UkraineHumanRightsAbuses ~ Pro-Russian, documents abuses that Ukraine commits.

Pro-Ukraine

Any Western media outlet that is even vaguely liberal (and quite a few conservative ones too).

In case you’re wondering if America is downplaying the severity of what is happening in Ohio, I can put those fears aside and simply confirm to you they indeed are downplaying it.

In 1979 when the Three Mile Island Nuclear Facility had a partial meltdown accident, president Jimmy Carter came to visit the site after it was deemed “safe” levels of radiation had been reestablished. Upon arrival, the company that owned the site gave Carter a Geiger counter to monitor radiation levels personally. Carter, unbeknownst to the company, had brought a Geiger counter of his own in his jacket pocket. Upon taking Carter to a room that was supposed to be safe, while the company provided Geiger counter remained quiet, Carter switched on his Geiger counter which started beeping like crazy, indicating high amounts of radiation in the room.

If they thought they could lie to the fucking president, who spent his time in the navy as a member of the Navy Nuclear Reactors program, just rest assured that they are 100% lying to you

Mainstream TV news is reporting on the severe Ukrainian ammunition shortage. They found a positive way to spin it though, doing perseverance porn about Ukrainians loading tiny drones with DIY bombs made of beer cans.

The report ended with the correspondence looking into the camera and saying this amazing sentence:

The difference between the Ukrainian and the Russian army is that Ukrainians thinks smart, Ukrainians think modern

Politifact has an article right now titled "Fact checking claims about the Chinese spy balloon". A fact-checking website uncritically accepting it's a spy balloon is just :chefs-kiss:

Remember when Dubya accidentally said "wholly unjustified and brutal invasion of Iraq" instead of Ukraine, laughed it off, then straight up admitted it was accurate ("Iraq too"), and absolutely nothing happened afterward? Just something I think about every so often.

So recently it has been revealed that the Norwegian police security agency (PST) were in contact with and encouraged the June 25th terror attacks on a gay bar in Oslo. Agents from the Electronics-agency posed as Islamic State representatives and sanctioned the attack over messages, 6 days before it happened. PST never warned the Oslo police about the incoming terror attack. PST insists that they did this for the safety of the citizens.

    They did it again!

‘Brave Ukrainians doing dirty work’, ex-Pentagon chief says in prank call

The US should make every effort to arm Ukraine in its conflict against Russia, because the nation is doing the dirty work Washington has shied away from, former Secretary of Defense Mark Esper said on Monday. He added that Ukraine has every right to attack Russian military targets, including those located within the country.

Esper, who served as the Pentagon chief in the administration of former President Donald Trump, spoke his mind in a phone call with the Russian pranksters who go by the names of Vovan and Lexus, believing that he was talking to former Ukrainian President Pyotr Poroshenko. Several clips of the conversation were uploaded to Russia’s Rutube video platform.

“Brave Ukrainian people are doing the dirty work of what we never wanted to do here in the United States, which is why we should continue to support you with everything we can, whether it’s munitions or arms or intelligence,” he said.

The ex-official recommended that Ukraine conduct more strikes on Russian military warehouses and logistics centers. He also told the pranksters that Kiev had “a sovereign right to conduct strikes on any targets you see fit,” including within Russia, explaining that an adversary with an off-limits “sanctuary” has an advantage.

Yeah, imagine how much of a disadvantage it would be if one side in a conflict couldn't target the other's manufacturing capabilities and airfields and command centers and transportation lines! Finally, Ukraine gets to even the playing field, and maybe, just maybe, they can -- IF ANOTHER MISSILE HITS POLAND THEN WE WILL START A GLOBAL THERMONUCLEAR WAR THAT KILLS BILLIONS.

Esper added, however, that he assumed that Kiev would still stick to a “strategic approach” that would not undermine NATO’s support for the country or make Russians rally around President Vladimir Putin.

You know what? Justifying a war used to be an art. The guys who exploded the Maine were my personal heroes throught my career. They are the reason I worked 80 hours a week, lost my wife, lost my kids, and even lost my left lung all in an effort to orchestrate and micromanage 9/11 for the Bush Administration. It was glorious. I was at the top of the world. For years they'd plaster my name in the strobing lights. I had free use of Epstein's plane and could always ride on the window seat. I was respected amongst my peers. Kissinger even had me kidnapped at night and transplanted with one of his third hand lungs. That's how big of a deal I was.

And now these zoomers pulled it off with a fucking balloon.

lmao, an AP video showing a Ukrainian commander wearing an ISIS patch (at 0:50). They just can't help themselves.

How does no one at AP see that and think they maybe should have him take it off, cover it up, or edit it out? Nah it's fine no one will notice, just ship it.
