"Boring employees are among his regular customers, Mr. Barrow said, but he is worried the new projects could threaten the water quality of the Colorado River and the aquifers that supply the region’s wells. Recently, Boring applied to state environmental authorities to discharge up to 140,000 gallons of industrial wastewater a day into the river. “I would like to know what is actually being sprayed, what they’re actually building, and who is going to hold them accountable,” Mr. Barrow said, referring to plans to disperse some wastewater onto Boring land. Ms. Lewis, the director of tourism and economic development, said she had no concerns that the company’s development would harm the river and surrounding farmland."

Instead of trying to force one of the world’s richest men out of town, Mr. Ambrose said, “we can make him be a good member of the community and be a good neighbor and follow the law. And that, to me, is worth the effort.”

The part that says "utopia along the Colorado River, where his employees could live and work." is interesting too. "You will not own your own homes, and will be subject to the ruling class" sounds exactly what conservatives are afraid of as a possible dystopian future. I'm curious to see their response to this.

Oh who am I kidding, we all know they'll love it because it's Elon that proposed it, completely dropping their original beliefs.

For conservatives, the problem with Stalin isn't the Bad Things™ he allegedly did, it's actually that the conservative wants to be the one doing Bad Things™.

Oh Grimes. I remember when she first started dating Elon on the old sub and had no idea who she was. Eventually found out and learn I was better off not knowing.

But they're gonna also incorporate silicon valley culture into it, so you're going to see a bunch of software developers in chains on scooters and segways and the compound barista has a shock collar
