Both the tv show and the comics. I really like how the show depicts how bush era conservatism naturally evolves into fascism.

Also, Anthony Starr as Homelander is fucking terrifying.

Piracy, comrade. All people have a right to culture, despite their income.

You got me there, but I’m just a fan of the comics who really likes the adaptation. Amazon doesn’t factor into my enjoyment of the show. Also, this is pretty much “hmm, you claim to be a socialist, but you participate in society.” Plus, it’s nice to have some ubiquitous cultural touchstones to explain leftist ideas to people.

I deny the existence of the Medici family, so the paintings just appeared out of the ether. Checkmate materialists.

michelangelo was a big plato stan and really disliked painting as paintings are a imitation of the ideal world by trickery while sculpture was better as art as they were both an object in the material world and represented something on the ideal world so this is a 2-0 for idealism

Were his paintings intended to pave a good public image for his patron while they continued to destroy the planet and cause the direct suffering of at least tens of thousands?

That airplane rescue scene still haunts me.

I just finished season 2 episode 1. I'm really liking how hard they're going criticising american imperialism so far.

Just finished the latest episode and it kind of starts veering off into satirizing the hollow nature of identity politics and corporate PR, but maybe it will get back to the supes in the military plotline later in the season. It is a bit weird watching the heavy critique of empty corporate PR while also having the knowledge that the show is produced by Amazon in the back of my head. Either way I am definitely enjoying the show a lot.

I thought the show was well done, read the comics recently and they're...rough. Like a surprising amount of reactionary shit wrt black people, disabled people, and trans people. Also whatever the opposite of 'sex positive' is.

edit: sex negative. It's sex negative. Did I mention the treatment of women? Also not great.

I started it like a week ago and I couldn't stop watching it, but a part of me wished I could, just because it has big hellworld energy and I get enough of that IRL. It is good though.

It's pretty good. I need to see where the second season ends up, but so far it's been pretty strong and the first season was all around good. A great takedown of American culture from many angles.

I read the whole thing and can't fault people if they were put off by how over the top it is. Like I really appreciate the deconstruction of the genre and stuff but does it have to be so hateful and blackpilled? Couldn't they have let the Love Sausage live?
