stg the algorithm boosts the absolute worst takes on purpose to further muddy the waters. like literally all the profiles are either "ML || 25 || TERF" or "ML || 38 || China bad" like it's all either reactionary patsoc slop or it's genuinely cool people who eat CIA propaganda like it's a kulak's surplus grain.

Meanwhile every talking point that doesn't seem immediately fishy automatically makes me skeptical as fuck bc sometimes the people that have good points about the liberation of the international proletariat also think that all trans people should die and then the people who call them out for their right wing bullshit all follow Vaush or spout something from the black book.

and then the people who spout the most "i have never read a book" takes in their life are met with criticism from people who seem chill at first and then you see transphobic wojaks and 41% memes in their RTs like jfc there is no middle ground with these motherfuckers.

They demand that the first act of the social revolution shall be the abolition of authority subjugation and erasure of marginalized groups. Have these gentlemen ever seen a revolution?

and then the inverse happens and i end up sitting there questioning if China bad or not bc someone said the stats about China's poverty elimination are faked without a source, but at least they're the only other person on that website that hasn't said the n word so fuck it maybe they're right who knows nothing is real anymore :agony-shivering:

        Mastodon is absurdly unwelcoming to twitter users & suffers from severe HOA vibes. Most servers demand you CW all political content & discussion of anything controversial.

        Hexbear strikes a good median of content warning most of the time, but too many mastodon servers enforce a “civility at all costs” policy. It of course tends to be used against marginalized groups because bigots are very good at “just asking questions” and mimicking manners.

        Real talk: Mastodon massively fucked up their window when Musk first bought twitter. Most of the major accounts tried to move to Mastodon, had culture shock or confusion on picking a server, and then gave up. 3 of the larger instances also immediately started descending into a turf war over who should get the new user influx.

        This resulted in some people shifting over to Mastodon, but not enough sticking for it to matter. Mastodon really fucked that opportunity up.
