It can go bad depending on storage, gunpowder can lose its potency over time (if you're really using 70 year old ammo you run the risk of getting a bullet lodged in your barrel). It can lead to hang fires, where you pull the trigger but ignition is delayed - pretty rare but the risk goes up the older the ammo apparently. But if you keep it properly stored it'll be fine after decades yeah.
