given the recent news about venus this just still shows that communism is superior

      Looking at how early some of this happened is wild. Like if you were born in like 1890 in Russia you would have seen the country go from a feudal backwater to putting stuff in space within your lifetime.

      The US took 22 years to put a woman in space after putting a man in space. The USSR took 2 years.

    i said this out loud to my partner when i heard the news lol. i was like "the soviets knew what was up the whole time". i've always thought venus seemed more likely to have once been habitable vs mars. mars was believed only habitable early in the solar system (4 byo) while venus was likely up until less then 700 million.
