If you're :very-intelligent: enough to respond with something "people that complain about things that don't matter," you're still complaining about complaining. :trans-uno:

With that out of the way, because this is just for fun, I'll start:

It annoys me when I have an otherwise good music compilation playing in the background, something that has an hour or more of stuff I can vibe to, then out of nowhere it has unsolicited repetitive and distracting vocal samples where the entire rest of the compilation doesn't, which means I have to find a new compilation unless I want to hit that speed bump to the chill every time I play it. :hasan-smash:

Yes, there are specifically labeled "no vocals" compilations but they have a much more limited selection. :joker-shopping:

People chewing with their mouths open

People not wearing masks in other people’s spaces - When maintenance comes into my apartment or when random people need to do something in my lab, put a mask on!! I’ve fucking given up on trying to get you people to wear them in stores but don’t come into MY space and start breathing your germs on me! I guess that one’s not harmless though

Loud cars. If your car’s idling engine is loud enough I can hear it inside my apartment with the windows closed, it shouldn’t be street legal. If your car’s idling engine shakes the entire fucking building I should be allowed to cut your fingers off.

Leaf blowers. Same as the loud cars. Electric ones aren’t the worst thing, but gas powered leaf blowers should be completely banned.

Assuming the worst in people, especially strangers. When people get cut off in traffic or something like that and seem to think it was a slight targeted at them personally. If the waiter brought you the wrong order it’s not them having a long day or just making an inevitable mistake, no they hate you and gave you the wrong drink on purpose. It sounds exhausting.

Car "culture" in general pisses me off.

The whole phenomenon of "truck nuts" really solidified that for me.

I had a very weird one on one struggle session on Hexbear with someone that insisted they must have a gas powered leaf blower for the sake of their extremely specific yard situation, no alternatives, no rakes. When I posted published and documented data proving that gas powered leaf blowers pollute thousands of times as much per unit of fuel as a car engine, they only got more defensive like that magically unique lawn that somehow required that specific treatment was more important than allergy sufferers in their immediate area, not to mention the collective damage the damned things do overall. :what-the-hell:

I dated a girl who used "meh" all the time. Like I'd text "good morning, how are you doing?" The reply: "meh"

Groups of friends that walk slowly in front of me, and take up the whole foot path so I can't just easily pass them. This used to be my number one issue, although the urbanism movement has helped me to realise that it's just too little space for pedestrians and too much for cars. Now I wonder how terrifying it must feel to have this dude trying to Formula One pass you on the foot path and feel him behind you. I'm a fast walker.

People that turn on video calls with speakers and have full conversations at restaurants or coffee shops, although granted now that I'm covid conscious, I don't go there anymore.

People that leave their pets outside always. Like fuck bro, your dog sounds lonely and his howling is keeping me up all night.

Dudes that use their mobile phone in public shitters. Guy, I'm waiting here and would also like to poop.

If this is something that's happening at work and the person is a repeat offender, tell them that you're busy and you'll be over in 5-10 minutes. Watch in amazement as they are suddenly able to get the thing done without you.

When I take a sip of something, and it's not what I was expecting, take a sip of what I think is water, or soda, and it turns out to be diluted kitchen soap or something. I've done that a couple times and it sucks, to where now I am very sus unless I know for a fact that I was the one who poured it into the glass.

As you say, its harmless, so its not like I want to mock people that use it, and I don't really have a reason for it being 'bad'.

But, I hate it. Not sure why, but it is very grating to me, to just slap the keyboard and call it a day.

Lmao yeah. I used Tumblr somewhat heavily in the around the 2010s, and despite that, there are so many 'tumblr-ism' that drive me up a wall.

But I just ignore it, because it is harmless, and its not like I'm going to actually change anything even if I did try.

And like, reddit and 4chan aren't particularly any better, as far as 'annoying shit that all the users seem to say' goes.

The fact that not a single streaming music service, including specialist classical ones, can make a decent playlist of pre 1900s music. And the curated ones are all "Classical Crossover hits!" Or "little known composers from Puccini to Vivaldi"

Where's my playlist of second rate North German hurdy gurdy tunes from 1550, Idagio?

There's a certain kind of humor that really bothers me. It's hard to explain, but imagine a nerdy person who describes themselves as having a dry sense of humor, saying something incredibly obvious and also without any sense of humorous timing, usually doing so in a completely flat and expressionless way, and then smirking like it was the wittiest, funniest thing ever. I wish I had an example because I know that this description sucks, but I've heard so many of these anti-funny joke attempts that they're like nails on a chalkboard to me.

Yeah, I have a variation on this type of dry joke where I say someone is "going for the hattrick", where they are about to do three different things or bring up three different topics, and it seems to land very well. But I've tried to come up with lots of other types of jokes in the same format and they've all been misses.

something incredibly obvious and also without any sense of humorous timing

      100% rotten

Some of the worst are pop culture references that have been recycled for years already. I know different groups of people have different exposure and that I'm very online, but a good referential joke is almost subterranean. The listener should feel clever for getting it, and it's best if it takes a beat to figure out.
