Everyone is overreacting. This monster Donald J. Trump has accumulated so much karma that he will be haunted for rebirths to come.

    That'll show him!

    Namaste.

As dumb as this is I don’t know what else one should expect from a legal organization. It’s not like the ACLU are elected officials who should actually be doing something.

Right, the ACLU can't save America from the scenario this envisions. When a "peaceful transfer of power" fails. That's why threatening to see him in court is funny.

"While we believe that canceling the elections was not the right move, we have to respect the ruling of the supreme court. Remember to vote blue in 2024!"

A court in which he will have appointed a plurality of the judges

In several years, as the case argues around the lower courts.

I was trying to decide what bothered me about this, and I think it's that it's fundamentally trying to soothe; it's trying to give you confidence that the ACLU is actually an organization in any way equipped to address a president who decides he's not going to step down, particularly when a huge minority of the country would prefer he do exactly that.

deadass: the only organization you should care to hear this from is the military

When "peaceful transfer of power" fails, we need guns not lawyers.

And even if we did, it wouldn't be these lawyers! A president ignoring election results and performing a coup isn't a civil liberties issue!

Well, I mean, that is what the ACLU does. It's not exactly out of character, and they get results.

Sure, they work within the system, but in the scenario they're talking about the system is done. If the fever dream nightmare of the libs comes to pass, the election results are certified and he lost, but he's got a brownshirt militia and support from police/military such that he hasn't been frog marched out of the white house yet, in that scenario, is a court decision that "mr trump you must leave it says right here in the laws" going to change anything?
