My ex partner wanted to re read them as an adult and asked if I would join in so she could discuss it with me. So I re read them and couldn't believe how poorly written books four to seven were and how many things were horrifying if you considered them for even a moment and how blatant her stereotypes were and ugh. Jesus.

And then my ex gave up reading mid way through book 4 because it was such a dip in quality, leaving me the only one who had to slog through the worst of JKs liberalism. I'm still annoyed about it because christ those last few books are so poorly written and have so many horrifying ideas.

I was going to make fun of it being the perfect stereotypical Brit fantasy.

No, she went to one of the most expensive private girls schools in the UK and when she was a "poor single mother on benefits" she was actually living in one of the most expensive areas of the country, and voluntarily not working to write her book. She did write it in a public cafe but what she doesn't say is it was her sister and brother in laws cafe who let her drink coffee and eat for free while she wrote and made their staff look after her kid.

She basically had every damn advantage possible.
