I feel like this is a little known secret, but chinese restaurants make the best fuckin French fries you'll ever get outside of a traditional chip shop.
If you can find local taco trucks (you'd be surprised how easy they are to find on google) You can walk away with some fantastic tacos for like 6-7 bucks.
I have like 5 within walking distance of my place. Food truck tacos are awesome.
By me I’d go with any curry (my fave is palak paneer). Full of veggies, the cheese makes it filling, vegetarian, and usually comes with generous amount of rice. Can usually get two meals out of this if I make my own rice the next day.
Is cheese common in Curry? I thought that was a European / American thing.

People from East Asia might be lactose intolerant. Dairy is super important in Indian cuisine.
I'm doing to be a dumbass and say Chipotle. For $15 I can get 2 veggie burrito bowls piled high with rice and beans and a reasonable amount of vegetables. I split each one in half and that's most of my food for 4 days. Cheap and filling and pretty healthy, plus they try to avoid additives. The only trouble is after a few weeks I start to get tired of it and need a break.
Just avoid the lettuce. One it doesn't last long, two it's a motherfucking roulette wheel. If you really want lettuce get it elsewhere.
Chipotle tastes great. It's the only nationwide burrito chain that is decent (Qdoba and others fuck off). My only problem with them is that the portion size incentivizes over-eating. Decrease the size, decrease the price, and pay your workers better.
Not really what I expected to hear here, but I can fuck with it. I really need to find a local place that does Chipotle better though. I know it's here, I literally just have to wade through hundreds of Burrito places to find it. I'm 0/1 right now though.
vindaloo from an indian restaurant. i prefer the lamb vindaloo from the nepali place by me, it's $13 and comes with a generous portion of rice. They also have paneer vindaloo and veg vindaloo if you're vegetarian or vegan and they're a couple bucks cheaper.
tbh i haven't ever noticed one aside from the one down the street but i've also never had a reason to look. nepal definitely has their own distinctive food, though there is a lot of overlap with traditional indian. the broad difference i've heard talking to people there and at work is that nepal is known for the waaay spicy versions of indian dishes.
oooh also achaar, which is a medley of spiced and pickled fruits and/or vegetables is delicious and can turn a bowl of plain rice into an exciting meal with just a little bit.
I will keep an eye out. I'm just now entering a food paradise, so I want to taste as many new things as I can.
Halal food from a food truck. Literally a 1/2 pound of lamb, a pound of rice and like a quart of white sauce. Six bucks.
