Psychs do not necessarily make people more leftist in my experience, sadly. If it's some stupid new age horseshit that undergirds your understanding of the world, then after the trip you're just going to be more in tune with the aforementioned horseshit. Fascists who take psychs are just as likely to emerge from a trip going "I used to just be a Nazi for the outfits but now I understand that it's a spiritual problem" and they become the esoteric type of Nazi instead.

“Psychedelic” means “reveals the soul.” Some souls are shitty.

I think I'm maybe a little too bleeding heart to believe this, I'll be honest, I at least would like to pretend that enough deep-scrubbing with a variety of techniques (proper sleep, healthy community, satisfying hobbies, demonstration of trust) could clean even the shittiest soul.

(Okay yes also reeducation camps for when you gotta roll up your sleeves and really get elbow-deep in the shit)

At least the esoteric Nazis tend to be more useless because they keep trying to attach a coherent ideology onto something defined as being incoherent

A crack team of Communist commandos fast ropes in to a swanky glass and steel office in Cuppertino. With blinding speed one of them pulls out a complicated gun. There's a puff of gas and a tech-fascist goes down clutching the dart in his neck. His eyes dilate wildly as he lies on the floor staring around in confusion and awe. Another commando walks up to him, steel in her eyes. She squats down regarding the bazina tech nerd and says "Don't worry, buddy, it's going to be alright. But the first couple of weeks after you learn what empathy is are gonna suck. Take this, you'll need it." She hands him a very small, soft kitten. Entranced by this beautiful, amazing being that has come in to his world the AI coder doesn't even notice the Communists leaving to continue their rampage of noospheric destruction.

I love these middle age dorks who do some 25 ng microdose like it's some secret new enlightenment. When I was 16 I was mowing on 7 grams of shrooms at atime fresh off the fields for something to do on the weekend.

I stumbled across this guy's slow disassembly of his worldview and it is fascinating. He has independently invented Socialism at least twice and then killed it because as soon as the question "but how do we organise this?" Comes up the only answer he can conceive of is "on the block chain"

Like literally "we need to....uh...make individual workers own their capital collectively...we should make DAOs and mediate them with a cryptocurrency stake!"

It's incredibly easy via dark net, comes right to your door! Doesn't take very long to learn either. The only thing crypto is good for

Ain't nobody checking domestic post, especially in personal use quantities. Especially in the case of something like acid tabs which are just tiny pieces of paper. The other option is making friends with people who take drugs

iirc all US mail is scanned and recorded -- i figure that alone would be enough to nail a ton of people if a supplier got pinched.. but maybe its a much larger market than i imagine

i think i remember reading that your mail can be opened and whatever too but a quick search didn't turn up a good solid source for that

https://slate.com/technology/2013/06/nsa-surveillance-why-the-post-office-doesnt-spy-on-your-mail-the-way-nsa-spies-on-your-email.html says it was debated but it's unclear whether or not its happening which to means its safe to assume it probably is

It looks like he personally left AI, but is still what @UlyssesT@hexbear.net aptly calls a "computer toucher."

This has not stopped vast swaths of techbros from apparently having an absolute meltdown about the "dangers of psychedelics" for "ultra-high performers." The consensus seems to be that anybody who leaves tech after doing psychedelics must have suffered brain damage from "high temperature annealing" of their neurons, which is funny as fuck.

A lot of the hand wringing is being led by "effective acceleration" people and Rationalists, who are 100% indistinguishable from cultists.

"The only real problem is that we're not doing techno-capitalism nearly hard enough. We should stop funding social programs, giving to charity, or doing anything except funneling money to AI research not because it will help people, but because our time as humans has ended and our true role as only the midwives to real intelligence has been revealed."

It's really ghoulish shit, even for Silicon Valley.

Yeah, it's a death cult in the extreme forms. In less extreme forms there's people who believe in doing it so that capitalism will move "to completion", collapse, and immanentize either communism (somehow without organisation) or the confused mishmash of libertarian blockchain utopia where hyper-capitalist grifts somehow come together to produce results identical to communism but with a thousand extra steps that help them to avoid thinking about other people or liking socialism.

Now every 19 year old who's read the Notes on Automation and too much Ken MacLeod/Ian Banks has had these thoughts but most immediately follow up with "Sure, accelerate socialism or barbarism, cool, can't make an Omelas without breaking eggs. But how do we avoid the barbarism option?" and immediately have an epiphany about the Dictatorship of the Proletariat or at least a strong vanguard.

But these dumbasses have been prevented from exploring Marx by a certain trashcan, and at best have read Piketty and cannot compass points left. And so they break. Or go fash.

I took edibles once and was really bothered that the most valuable tech companies develop software that, not only will the source never be released, but most people will never actually run on their computers. Their value comes from mining data on us for ads and the bourgeoisie think it's some of the best shit they have, and now all those same companies are pumping AI, which I think means the bourgeoisie think there will be salesbot chatgpt harassing people on every web site.
