Black crepe with a small tortoiseshell print, the pantsuit is among the simplest looks Mrs. Obama has worn in her post-White House life, in which her style on book tours and at big events has been marked by a discernible experimentation and sense of fun: Balenciaga “pantaboots,” Versace safety pins. Not this time. This time, the suit was even simpler than the one she wore at the DNC.

[...]

The suit was from Theory, a label that has become a uniform for many working women as they climb the executive ranks, and that has grown into a behemoth. (It is now owned by Fast Retailing, the group that owns Uniqlo; the blazer that Mrs. Obama wore is currently on sale for $256.80). As such, it was less a fashion statement than a statement of solidarity — with the women in the room and with Ms. Harris herself.

Jesus, it would be hilarious talking with a CEO and having them tell me with a straight face why a safety pin is 295 of all things.

How hard is it to start a grift for some luxury brands?

I learn to make something simple, like, idk, ties. I brag about my legendary ties and try to start a “luxury tie” company where I make a few in small batches because they’re super rare and sell like 15 for 500 a pop

I try to grift CHUDs by having a few chud theme’d ties: Cybertruck ties, Bitcoin ties, some with Roman busts on them, skull ties: specifically things that cater to the rebrand the right has been doing alongside Peter Thiel rather than the “trashy, gauche” CHUDs of like the 2000s and earlier that you see lampooned on Middle Class Fancy.

I also have a hidden QR code that links to PPB on every tie.

I mean they could point to the fact it's made of gold

It's a brooch made of precious metals and gems but shaped like a safety pin

$295 is more than I've spent on clothes for the last decade by several orders of magnitude lmao

To be fair, some $295 trifle of an accessory is pretty reasonable considering their dozens of acres of Hawaiian beachfront property spread across multiple compounds, including historic Hawaiian heritage sites that they promptly helped destroy by being part of the insufferable sea wall folks who destroy beaches for everyone to keep a little bit of their land a little longer

Both parties are NoT ThE SaMe indeed.
