Almost 8 months of unemployment, but despite being poorer than in any point of my adult life, I've never been this happy and fulfilled. I'm genuinely enjoying living with my aging parents and it just feels amazing to be surrounded by a family and a community that I feel loved by. American ideas about one's relationship to parents are horrible at times, both in terms of how parents treat children after they turn 18 and how people treat their old parents.
