Biden had just given Morales “the talk,” in which he set out the United States’ expectations for Guatemala, and she recounted how the other leaders all seemed to remember having that conversation with Biden at some point too.) While there, Biden pitched his vision for the region, in which the three so-called Northern Triangle countries could work to be more open societies and tackle the “root causes” of mass migration—all with American financial and political backing.

Christ. This is how you treat disobedient children. Not nations.

that he envisions “a hemisphere that was secure, middle class and democratic, from the northern reaches of Canada to the southern tip of Chile.”

What he means here is secure for the middle (petit boug) class controlled by them and their aspirational interests in supporting the capital.

“The capacity to make leaders and people in Latin America feel like they’re being heard again by the United States is going to be essential

At least we know this is not going to work in Chile. Nice words won't do shit anymore against the hate for neoliberalism they have.

US embassies in Central America are only concerned about stopping migration, and even then it's only on the most superficial level.

The only language they know is militarising the police for "transnational security" and for beating migrants, all so some braindead white families in middle America don't get spooked seeing brown people in their lifeless strip malls and the government can pretend that everything is fine and totally not collapsing all around us.

You can show them all the evidence on militarization just making things worse, on the effects of decades of US-backed military rule, on climate change and extractivism, and all the myriad reasons people migrate. All they hear is "more money for police".

Death to Amerikkka, of course :amerikkka:

It's incredible how we've come here. No matter who wins, we all lose. Trump will collapse the USA, which will cause hundreds of thousands of deaths internally at least. Biden will try his hardest to slow the collapse of the USA, possibly asserting the USA back on the global stage, militarily if necessary; and needless to say a direct conflict with China or Russia would mean WW3 and very probably nuclear anihilation. In the best case for Biden, he "only" coups governments to exploit their natural ressources. Worst case scenario, someone will fire back, and if that someone is China, we're fucked. Best case scenario for Trump, he'll collapse the country completely and radicalize whoever wasn't certain at this point, and is ousted by a general strike. Worst case scenario : he directly causes a civil war or purges leftists.

All this could've been avoided. All this because social democracy is literal communism to some. I'm not going to lie, I'm not ready for this. I'm not ready for the nightmare, and yet it is ready for us all. Fuck this world, I hope this is worth it in the end.

I don't want Trump to win, OK? That said, we all knew Biden will bomb Venezuela in his first year, probably first 3 months. And I obviously can't choose, but if Satan made me pick between faster collapse (ie bloodbath) in the US vs bloodbath in Venezuela, well...

Anyways, I don’t think Trump winning again would be better for us latam. Or maybe it’s just me trying to convince me things could be worse given Biden is about to win

Nevermind, I love you all, and as always, Death to Amerika

I swear the amount of "muh harm reduction"-like shit I read really nauseated me, and I was already angry, so I typed and deleted a lot responses kicking shit about false solidarity and other bad faith takes. But then it washed away and I'm glad we are all really cool with each other around here.

There is a user that comes from Australia that says there the cats becae an invasive species that is killing indigenous wildlife so I guess thats understandable, but probably anywhere else cats don't survive in the wild and/or there is indigenous wild cats species in that ecosystem, like where I live

Yeah in Australia it's literally government policy to kill stray cats, the :galaxy-brain: settlers fucked up the ecosystem so much that if the stray cats get out of control it could probably lead to the extinction of some other animal species

Where I grew up stray cats end up in dairy farms from around town where they became fat blobs that drink milk and hunt fat pidgeons in the feedlots.

Yeah my country doesn't really have a problem with stray cats at all, I was pretty shocked to hear it's government policy in other countries to straight up kill stray cats.

yeah they have a totally different situation than most other places. most places have a native small cat of some kind, AUS & NZ do not and theyre dangerous to native wildlife there, very dangerous. its nothing like the americas or Europe and Asia.

Reading that reminds me of when I used to be a lib. I'd hear some liberal stuff like "equality under the law" and think that was a good thing, not realizing what they meant by "equality" was very different than what I thought.

Biden says all this stuff that sounds good and makes sense until he elaborates and then you realize it's like he lives in an alternate reality. He doesn't mean the US wrecked south america with imperialism, he means we didn't beat and jail enough of our citizens to remove the incentive to smuggle things into and out of the US. He doesn't mean we should provide aid to south america to help them recover from what the US did to them, he means the US should poke around in their affairs and make sure their politics are correct for what we want. We need to "help" them.

          It's so bizzare.
