      I think it's extremely naive to think that they don't work to generate activity you want people to do.

      I don't REALLY care about them, but in a choice between taking the time to crosspost for no real gain and taking the time to crosspost for a fake perceived reward? The latter is more likely to have the outcome desired. And we do desire people crossposting, right?

      The only people with an actual incentive currently are the community mods seeking to populate those comms. No incentive, nobody doing it. KiaKaha here could have hit the crosspost button to do it too but did a comment instead, bizarrely, which isn't necessarily a useful outcome either.
