    Alright, I've gotta come clean: I've been playing games on PC for a literal decade and I still have no idea what refresh rates or Vsync options I should be using, I buy monitors exclusively based on how big they are :(

      Lol, that's fine. Learning about a new premium component/feature ends up creating an arms race between all your computer parts anyway (especially in high fps gaming), which gets expensive fast.

        Not quite, GSync and Freesync turn of Vsync for you when they're on, but they don't function when your FPS exceeds the refresh rate, so you could still get tearing. Then it's your call whether you want to do a framerate cap or have Vsync on. I know Vsync can have input lag issues, but from what I've read it seems people prefer it to framrate caps so I just went with it because I'm lazy and figure I won't notice a bit of additional input lag when the response is already so quick.
