Originally, Posadists were just normal Trots doing Trot things, like splitting off from the 4th Internationale. They were actually quite influential in Latin America in the mid-20th century, many of the revolutionaries in Cuba were Posadist. Viewing nuclear war as an inevitability wasn't an uncommon Trot position during the Cold War, either.

The alien stuff came later, towards the end of the 1960s. I still don't know if the dolphins are actually a thing in Posadas' theory or if they're just a meme. So far, i haven't found any mention of dolphin communication in his works, but the subject was kinda huge in pop culture back then. Both the US and Soviet navy had dolphin training programs, then John C. Lily took a ton of ketamine and started researching dolphin communication. It would make sense for a Trot ufologist to get interested in all that.
