    Steel is also easier to work and is more versatile

    To make an obsidian kinfe/scalpel/whatever you need a piece of obsidian bigger than the thing you want to make out of it, then knock bits off until it's the size and shape you want

    Often used for very delicate surgeries, since they can have blades that are only a single molecule wide. The Inca used obsidian tools to open the skull and perform some of the earliest known successful trepannings.
