Ive been trans for over a year now but ive been sticking with my boy name (i always liked it but its not a girl one) mostly my name ideas have been "whichever one i heard last" but i hate commitment so I'll never stick to anything

probably not all that helpful, but whenever i've needed names for characters in things, (that aren't fantasy or whatever) i usually just dig through my brain for names i like from people i've met, names that are a bit "out of fashion" for a little touch of uniqueness, that kind of thing

edit to add: I only knew one Nadine and she was an unbearable chud. we need more cool lefty nadines to balance out the world

Eden and Natalie are both in the same vein, I think Nadia is cute too. If you have some friends that are trans supportive irl they'll probably be willing to test run names, just like call you something for a while with the understanding it might not be permanent.

i like these ones! i want to try out names with strangers if covid ever ends.

ive got commitment issues, even if the names dont have to stick i dont want to announce new names like 6 times lol

I'm glad you like them 😄 I also really like Zoe if you're still taking ideas, if I could pick my name I might go with that. Is there anything you want to "try on" first? I could make a mental note to call you that if we're interacting on this site.

                        🥰

I understand that about irl though, take things at your own pace as you need. Good luck on your journey!

you can just keep the name Ned! <3 if you like it, keep it. you're not Fake Trans™ if you don't have a deadname.

ok, i chose mine by asking a friend of mine (gay cis) to give me girl names. i then voted them between "meh" "like" and "love". it doesnt work if your friend is a bougie, otherwise they will give you names like Francesca or some shit.

i chose katie cos it sounds like cutie, like cat, and like the song katyusha.

Be one of those trans people like me that just keep adding more names I have so many help me. One time a friend i knew for 5 years wasn’t sure what I like to be called.

I do have one that most ppl irl call me, amd as with all my name it kinda just spoke to me. Like popped in my head and felt right. Like “yeah ok I’m X now”. I have a disorder that could interfere with these things though so maybe my method isn’t for everyone.

Also i’m a huge fan of browsing baby name websites and searching through the dictionary for pretty words. This one isn’t a name but one of my fav words is diaphanous.

I chose Grace because it was a pretty name and a lot of pretty people i knew had it. Also it had the first letter as my dead name. Will probably change my name again though if i convert to another religion.
