Just some usual bullshit that's hidden in the second "relief" bill that is likely to pass tonight:
what's this, seems bad https://www.congress.gov/bill/115th-congress/senate-bill/2736/text
literally just admitting it lol :thinkin-lenin:
I think this this is the act that passed in 2018, they're just piling more money toward it.

I don't think I'm being crazy to say that the US starts to militarize space other countries will follow and we could fuck ourselves as a species. Just one example...
Kinetic bombardment is a hypothetical weapon launched from space down to earth. In theory such a weapon could hit a target in under 15 minutes. In space a projectile weapon (think of a metal rod shaped like a telephone pole) is launched from a platform and hurtles to earth at many times the speed of sound. Some systems are quoted as having the yield of a small tactical nuclear bomb.
Kinetic bombardment
You are assuming competence. Never assume competence. I think there is an overwhelming chance all that money ends up in the pocket of a couple of contractors who get to design some bullshit weapon/surveillance system that you'll find out 15 years later doesn't even work but now because the program is out of funds they hastily put something together that "kind of works" but doesn't actually so it is of no threat or consequence.
Sorry didn't mean to write out the entirety of the US defense industry of the past 2-3 decades.
Billions wasted/squandered/stolen would be a better outcome.
It’s like nuclear weapons but without the stigma. What could go wrong?

Exactly. Why wouldn't countries use them?
Launching giant metal rods into space is kinda spendy. Luckily we don’t have any corporations building heavy launch capacity and extraterrestrial settlement ambitions that might have an interest in destabilizing Terran oversight of their new kingdom.
Who will win?
