Inspired by a news post on reddit that reminded me how dumb the average legislator is, especially at the state level.

    No. There's certianly flaws in every representative system (especially America's constitution) but ultimately it's a sound idea for a government. And, hot take, electoralism has worked and is viable as a method for the left to gain power.

    There's a reason why even Tankies will bring up the fact a government was elected when explaining it was overthrown by the CIA. It is a good method for showing popular support.

    However, it's also vulnerable to existing power structures. The bourgeoisie can force a bourgeoisie ideology on the masses and get them to vote for the continuation of bourgoeois power. The structure of the state, especially one like America, can alao hinder action by leftists once they've aquited power.

    So, it's pretty good, but don't take it for granted that represenative systems are always good.
