Im a case manager that helps homeless vets get long term housing and there’s something called permanent supportive housing. they want me document to show there was no gaps in their time being homeless (its a 1 year minimum) or to show 4 times (lapses) becoming homeless. its documented by having providers give them services (documented on a homeless data base) or have an observation of their living situation that got noted etc.
fucking bullshit that they can’t accidentally give someone who was only homeless 11 months or who was homeless 11 months housed 1 month but became homeless again. this is infuriating lmao ughhhhh why cant we just give people homes fuck
they follow up and check everything sadly. but i can make things count as ok that are kind of dubious and I only stop clients funding for motels for example when I absolutely have too.
an example would be if they have a big expense like a power chair or something but dont have problems paying rent i can say hey dont pay rent this month get a 3 day pay or quit notice (I can help urgently tipping into homelessness like evictions as well) and pay for that chair and I can pick up rental arrears you owe and help with rent for a bit and stuff. so like i can help in indirect ways that are really encouraged as long as I can find a way to finagle and make it work on paper
