When it runs out of fuel in its core then it will stop exploding and the outer layers will crush down with immense force at a fraction of the speed of light and compact into a white dwarf and throwing its outermost layers off into space as a supernova remnant
You're right, but those outer layers will become a remnant! Couldn't think of the correct term even after googling so I gave up haha
