LIbre office can open and work with docx files. Google docs can as well if you don't mind Google scanning the contents. Otherwise I've heard leetx and rarbg have good quality selections of cracked software at low, low prices (free). And unlike TPB they're thought to be malware free.

If nothing else, you can try opening the file in LibreOffice.
