It's....checks notes.....Dave Anthony of The Dollop. Go to 1hr 31min.
He's calling for pitchforks and setting shit on fire basically. Are the libs alright?
About time tbh. 400,000 dead folks.
According to reddit the last half hour, with the monologue, was cut from platforms like Spotify and Overcast.
edit: didn't realise this came out 27 days ago. Just compared player.fm to soundcloud. It looks like on player.fm they cut the speech from 1.31 onwards, but then pasted in the last 3 seconds of the ep where Dave says "Oh well, we tried".
edit: dave is not a lib I was wrong. Someone with a twitter account should ask him how he feels about his fire speech being cut from major platforms.
edit: well this has been a trip. seems like the platforms didn't edit it, Dave did, after the Capitol happened. Because people wanted him to "stop being political", he says. Weird. I think he came under pressure tbh, whether from family, legal advisers, or the platform.
There's discussion on it here: https://reddit.com/r/TheDollop/comments/kszvjx/dave_and_gareths_discussion_at_the_end_of_lucy/
I am absolutely 1000% not engrained enough in Dave Anthony ideology to have an argument on this one way or the other but I have listened to like 4 episodes of the dollop and he literally calls himself a leftist in, without using the term, some kind of Marxist sense
I don't listen to it, tbh, so maybe am totally misrepresenting him. Just heard him guest on various pods. Kinda thought he was a leftist in the "Democrats are on the left" sense.
It's great that he's putting it out there.
Dave Anthony is a comrade. His Twitter is a great follow. Lots of libs (I'm guessing Dollop fans who don't realize the underlying metric of the show) wander in to wokescold him or challenge him on his takes and he just mercilessly bullies them. It never gets old. The Dollop's John Brown series would bring a tear to any chapo dot chat user's eye.
am just being told that now. consider me tolt.
He co-hosts West Wing Thing, where he constantly talks vicious shit about Aaron Sorkin, the Democratic party, end-of-history mindset, liberalism in general, and capitalism as a whole. I've never listened to The Dollop but now I probably will
It's good folks. Listen to the two-parter about Reagan, or the episode about Dianne Feinstein and her Confederate Flag.
10 cent beer night is also a banger, as is the newsie strike, or any of the ones where the klan gets their shit pushed in.
the chapos did some guest appearances. my rec:
The Dollop Podcast #261- Matt Christman | Henry Fords Henchman Live in Detroit
first Dollop i listened to was the Charles Darwin ep and it was a good entrypoint if you don't want to be soaked in political outrage 24/7
