Posts used to be getting hundreds of upvotes and now not a single post on the front page breaches 100, what gives?

If you sort after top daily you still see posts with over 100 votes. The front page algorithm has changed so posts arent on the front page for as long as they used to be so they get less votes

I mean that is true to an extent, but the daily megathread isn't breaking 100 upvotes anymore. Shouldn't the activity be growing since it's only been a little over a week after launch and mods are advertising the site on reddit I presume? I'm just worried that this site might become something like raddle or voat, where there's like 40-60 ppl hanging around on a reddit close with their alts.

The hot sorting algorithm still needs work. In the beginning it was possible for posts that were 6 days old to be at the top of hot. The algorithm changed now, but too much in the other direction in my opinion. Now it's impossible for something older than a few hours to be on the front page of hot, now matter how many upvotes it gets. The site is still being built, and we need to find a middle ground between the two in my opinion. Also if you sort by new you can see that there are actually a lot of posts.

I wouldn't think so? Chapo has always catered to the very online types, and granted it's the time when chapos are not in school or uni, they're likely on the internet. Though I'd give you some credence before quarantine, you must be daft to think Americans are going out on weekends when 5000 of you are dying every day from coronavirus

I'd invite you to read about many of our fine midwestern and southern states.

It does seem like there's less posting recently, but the front page upvotes thing could be because the hot algorithm was changed
