It's like the neoliberals can't go full mask off fash and kill the poor so they keep the mask on and set up systems that are broken on purpose to give you the impression that they really really do care (they don't.) But yeah, heaven forbid someone who was lying gets those UC benefits, so let's means test it so hard we break it and no one can get them!
Another example with my mom is how she doesn't qualify for normal welfare or food stamps because she's married. But there's no way to explain to bureaucratic neolib managers that yes she's married but her husband doesn't help her and they are too poor to get divorced.
