It's that y'all are terrible at picking names for a social media site, shits like if parler was gonna be named "whitepride.topkek" or "thesouthwillrise.up". Please take the time spent complaining that no one asked you for alternatives and instead use that to come up with something that doesnt sound like a single use gimmick joke site like "communismwill.win" that just sounds like a blank page with a karl marx le trollface saying "Communism will win, problem burgeroise?"

Also people acting like hexbear makes no sense, literally just "Its a funny bear and a catchy rememberable name" ezpz to explain.

Contrast with names like "lib.rehab" where its like "oh yeah haha its like a reference to how we all used to be liberals and this is our rehab but we all also jokingly and seriously accuse each other of being liberals all the time its actually a super funny joke once you get it." Guaranteed a catchy name is better than writing a whole ass manifesto in the URL to make sure people 200% know that we are a leftist website before they actually hit enter.

Also also, people calling hexbear.net cringe and then suggesting the lamest site name like left.chat or prole.chat that just radiate "please wedgie me" energy, go ride a skateboard once and then come back with some cooler name suggestions.

Nu-posters exposing themselves by thinking that hexbear wasn’t always dumb and not at all relevant to the culture of the old sub

Lemmygrad.ml unironically came up with a good name for itself and the site is similar enough to chapo.chat that federating was (or still is) on the table.

The userbase was like 2000 users when they came up with the name, it really can't be that hard to do come up with a similarly clear and communicative name for this site with this number of users.

It's not that necessary to beat the reader over the head that its a LEFTISM SITE PLEASE COME HERE FOR YOUR LEFTISM NEEDS THIS IS A LEFTISM SITE WE ARE ALL LEFTISTS HERE COME HERE FOR THE REVOLUTION, when it comes at the expense of just the name being simply memorable and look relatively serious without gimmick domain name jokes like .ml

i dunno what this weird mindset is that you guys are trying to hide that this is a leftist site to try to trick the libs into coming and then 'converting' them. it's very odd to me.

advertising that this site is leftist to me in the name is a good idea. even if they want to change it from chapo, i get that the hexagon bear was a cool emblem and all, but it doesn't shout 'leftist.'

if we didn't want a leftist site we'd just be at reddit. we can't say what we want there from a leftist perspective, hence we're here.

Its not hiding it, its just not frontloading it and making us look like obsessively leftist. It has the benefit of taking some of the seriousness away so this is a left leaning space you can hang out in rather than a leftist left site for leftists to talk about leftism.

And again you can just advertise it as a leftist site without making the url and name into a big hammer and sickle which just makes us look lame and uncreative.

Yeah so why make the name sound like a buncha squares arguing about das kapital.

i'm not for putting anything that's strictly ML in the name, but focusing on the idea that we lean left and are for shitposting is probably good idea.

Its kinda easy to say that but from the suggestions Ive seen in the two suggestion threads it basically just turns into "we wanna show people we are leftists and like shitposting, lets name ourselves leftistsshitposte.rs" or some other domain name super clever joke.

This call to action would be more meaningful if you posted it from an account with an admin flag.
