i understand how dumb this article is, and it seems like it has some basic facts wrong but i dont know how "the dirtbag left is flirting with the alt right" is a controversial take in 2021. 2016, maybe, back when lefties were swimming in bad faith assumptions made by libs who had no intention of ever engaging with the dirtbag left in good faith, but i think since then the 2016 "dirtbag left"'s tendency to deny good faith crticism because of lib craziness, is now seen as a wrong, racist/ transphobic/ marginalizing etc choice

I don't know if it's because we're so trapped in the "dunk" model of communication, or because Marx himself was both correct and an absolutely tiresome asshole, or because we're so small we're worried we'll damage ourselves and/or the left by admitting we're wrong, but it's almost pathological.
Not admitting fault is a powerful tool on the right, but it doesn't work on the left.
