Can't wait for everyone and their grandparents to be frothing at the mouth and chanting "China must pay!" In the streets while also wondering why there are so many hate crimes against Asians

If china made a bioweapon that is just a regular virus that can only be defeated by planning your economy I can only say Hell Yeah!

We kicked an Own Goal and we're blaming the soccer ball because it's got "Made In China" stamped on the back. Truly, 11-D chess.

I don't think this ultimately matters. American desire to pick a fight with China won't result in us winning any more than German desires to pick a fight with the USSR resulted in them winning. We can spin up whatever crazy conspiracy theory we like. The only people who will ultimately suffer are American Chinese residents (and all the "close enough" Vietnamese, Korean, Japanese, Taiwanese, Philippians, etc). Which still sucks. But it is setting us up for yet another Own Goal.

The only thing I know about it I was listening to a podcast a while ago from when it all started and they pointed out that there was a chemical lab right next to infamous wet market.

That pod cast's host, one Brace Beldon.

You would think a lab tasked with creating a virus would be located somewhere isolated and not next to a wet market in one of China's most heavily populated cities.

I want a large population of highly educated well-paid professionals to congregate in a campus-like laboratory setting, but I don't want any commercial infrastructure to spring up around this hub of public investment and salaried staff. Also, please make sure none of these people get married, have kids, and want any kind of recreational activities, because then we are FUUUUUCKED.

Let's try to do this with literally any University town in any city in the world and see how far we get.

There are plenty of lib versions of the basic conspiracy, most notably the "lab leak" (oh and btw don't look into Fort Detrick pls)

I would say it'll be the same amount of people who thought Eisenhower was a communist spy.
