All these "here is why capitalism is actually a moral and fair system" thought experiments needs to have the underlying presumption that everyone participating are financially independent gentlemen who doesn't really need the money in the first place in order to work

Maybe, but I'd really like to see more Lemmy instances dedicated to specific topics, like how there is with Mastodon.
I mean sure, a variety of interesting comms on specific topics sounds great to me too, but allowing randos to create any comm they want is exactly how r*ddit ended up with so many toxic subreddits. It just seems really unwise to me.

They're right. This is a perfectly functional, if somewhat harrowing, way for a society to operate unless you are one of the people in excess to the requirements of employers, and if you are you have already been written off
