Why should I give a shit if China is spying on me? What are they going to do? They have no jurisdiction over me. The US government on the other hand...

If you look up the over-permissioning/spying accusations too, you'll end up with a list of apps and they popped "Chinese-owned TikTok" into the headline when Starbucks and LinkedIn are as bad or worse.

Also, the EU is choosing Huawei despite continued American bullying!

really? I didn't know that. It would make sense though because america has demonstrated that it can and will ban companies from the resources they need to function or threaten to ban them unless they sell themselves to an american company if they get too good at beating american companies. America has also shown it doesn't give a fuck about a lot of it's allies with how it handled the covid pandemic and vaccines. America isn't a safe bet anymore.

If he got rid of it he would've won. Tiktok is destroying my relationship with my girlfriend. I hate overhearing that app so fucking much.

The annoyance and bewilderment I feel when I see zoomers (only a handful of years younger than me!) addicted to watching the bullshit on that app make me feel like a boomer.

10 or 20 second long videos of people dancing or making some dumb staged joke or recording themselves lipsyncing some line from a movie or some shit. Hardly anything resembling content that might be at all intellectually stimulating

My roommate used to watch it for fucking hours what the fuck?

It's like it was designed by evil scientists to appeal specifically to the basest parts of our lizard brain, which is evolutionally compelled to stare at lights and at things that move fast.

I was SOOOO ready for trump to ban it lol.

I had a girlfriend in highschool whos younger brother would just wander around the house in sperry topsiders and pastel short shorts listening to Vine for hours on end at full volume. It was unsettling

Its like people who cant pick a song when driving and play like ten seconds of each song decided they enjoy that and wanted to make an app out of it. Then you got the lipsyncing, where its a bunch of adult women lipsyncing child voices, and its fuckin bizarre. One of the worst things ever invented. I'm convinced no one in China actually uses it and its just an invention to destroy America. But if thats true then maybe its a good thing?
