It is sickening to see people being brutally repressed by a guy who isn't even wearing a hat made of gold!

Imagine being a monarchist and seeing the Duma as a good achievement. At least stick to your lane reddit weirdoes.

As to why Nicky, there isn't really a lot of viable alternatives of absolute monarchs that didn't get absolutely owned in the last 200 years.

There's Dom Pedro II. Granted, the monarchy ceased to be "absolute" under him and, in the end, he got coup'd by a bunch of salty army officers and former slave owners but still.

lmao imagine thinking that being drawn into WWI was a chad move instead of an unforced error that every inbred ruler of every militaristic wannabe empire in europe tripped ass-first into

When you start looking into it it's insane how utterly brainless Nicky was. In the 0.0000001% of the dumbest people in history.

He comes off as a basically well-meaning (in a bourgeois "alms for the poor" way) but mind-blowingly incompetent and out of touch with reality.

He was probably aware that he was in over his head. When he became tsar at the age of 26 his reaction was an 19th century version of "oh shit oh fuck!":

Nicholas may have felt unprepared for the duties of the crown, for he asked his cousin and brother-in-law, Grand Duke Alexander, "What is going to happen to me and all of Russia?"

    Nearly won WWI before revolution

Sure were a lot of German soldiers in Russia for Nicky to be "nearly winning"...

Well how else would he have gotten all of those medals? surely he didn't just make someone give them to him for doing nothing in a palace while his people were killed.

Hmm, well one saw 1919 after overthrowing the other. Sounds like a Chad move to me.

I just got to say, being an actual monarchist must be fucking miserable. Your ideology is dead, deader than dead. It's been killed like 3 times over by now, and nobody takes any of it seriously at all. Divine right of kings? people will laugh in your face. Your only modern examples are like pathetic puppet petrostates propped up by the decadent US empire and figurehead monarchs with no power. It's Louis' nightmare out there, the peasants and the fucking merchants have won and all the noble things about monarchy have been throughly shit on for few a hundred years now. Might as well just follow your leader and decapitate yourself unless you want to be a failure for the rest of your life. And that's coming from a communist and we know failure lol
