thats the problem with regulations , it forces inspections which then lead to discovery of structural failure , which then closed the bridge ..
SHUT UP SHUT UP SHUT UP SHUT UP SHUT UP SHUT UP SHUT UP SHUT UP!!! OH MY GOD!

Painting Grenfell with oxidizer actually saved lives over the long term, and installing sprinklers would kill more than the Iraq War

From personal experience living in the US: They'll literally cast it on "personal responsibility". A key roadway out of order, bus being 3 hours late, you smelling like arse because walking 15 kilometers because of said bus to work when its +40C outside, backlog of traffic due to an accident (Fun fact: North Dallas was in gridlock for several hours because a tanker truck tipped over the interstate, blocking it), hostage situation, etc. Time to get scolded by your boss.
edit: i wrote personal experience
USA: oh nooo our 80 years old bridge is about to collapse bc investing in infrastructure is baaad and communist XDDDD VOTE
Capitalism is the freedom to watch bridges fall apart as I stockpile gasoline in tupperware containers.
Damn, would really suck if the US had to balkanize because all the fucking bridges collapsed
:amerikkka-clap:
Materially it would be horrific, but at the very least I feel like it might be interesting to see what happens
The first 30-40 years would be dogshit as Fascist governments try to imitate the Reagan years and immediately collapse upon themselves.
Ahem HRMM ahem
Of course I love to Balkanize the US when playing HoI IV
Maybe I could put my high-school Spanish to use and actually learn Spanish for real. Head to Mexico with everyone else fleeing psycho Nazi boomers.
What makes you think Mexico doesn't have its own batch of nazi boomers? Capitalism death cult is everywhere.
The train and pedestrian bridges, despite being older, are still fine.
Train gang stays winning.
I know that's supposed to be a train from the front but all I can see is Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo with glowing eyes.
:xi: Hey, what's the US overall grade on it's 2020 infrastructure report?
:weihua: C-, sir.
:xi-lib-tears: Nothing more needs to be said.
I am once again stating that /c/collapse should exist because there is a tendency for the rate of collapse to rise.
Call daddy Elon, I'm sure he can workshop some high-speed electromagnetic linear vehicle accelerator to make bridges obsolete, that ends up being a catapult that flings Teslas across the river
Tenesse gonna pay eight gazillion dollars for a tunnel below the river that can only fit one (1) car that will have to be a Tesla for the barriers to open.
Shit, Tenesse works at the Safeway. She can't afford that
Quick, check if there have been any Mothman sightings in the area

The collapse of the united states has been set in motion.
The collapse of the Roman Empire had long been set in motion up until 1453. It's going to take a while.
