The pandemic is actually an ideal time to implement Medicare for All. Aside from guaranteeing healthcare despite losing your job (the most important thing), people's reticence to go to the hospital would minimize the "shock" of people who were otherwise afraid of expense suddenly actually getting some healthcare.

It's in capital's collective interest to exit the pandemic ASAP, but capital's collective interest is only served when there's an individual interest binding them together, which is not the case here. Their individual interest is short-term profit, which abhors lockdowns.

They really can't comprehend how a proper response could have stopped all this from the beginning, so they assume China's actual number are like 100 times higher than reported or something.
China's numbers would have to be 100,000 times larger and even then it would still only be about half of America's deaths in a country almost 3 times the size.

I honestly need to just quit Reddit entirely or something. I'm not good at "debating" and even if you spend an hour writing a thorough comment with sources and everything, if it counters narrative of US foreign policy, you're not gonna get very far.

From what I remember, there is some shred of truth to it, but the purpose of it was to block off an unauthorized exit to a large living complex so that everybody going out would pass by the same table to check temperature/ensure contact tracing was accurate. They weren't like, chucking people into jail cells and sealing them shut because they tested positive
My favorite is the large table of underreported covid cases that shows almost every Western country underreporting by 40-60% used as evidence that China is lying.

Do these people have a reason for why China would lie about their numbers? The reason America under reported was because of a desire to keep consumerism going and also genuine incompetence and malice. What reason would China have? Do redditors believe the CDC is allowed to invade you if too much of your population is sick? Do they say it's becuase of sanctions? China is already a pariah for half the world.
I'm genuinely confused about their rationale for why China would need to lie.
To keep a strong face to the rest of the world, and to seem better than they are, so that they can convince other countries to adopt their model and install communist leaders who will be loyal to them.
The answer is sinophobia. "All Chinese are sneaky and lie" is the motivation but they'll say, "but Hurst the CCP" so the racism is less obvious.
