Labor aristocrats desperately need to protect and apologize for their "glorious" cathedrals. Without such colonial architecture they cannot rationalize being such insignificant parasites clinging to the sewer of their satanic empire.

Keep soyfacing at how important culture and spirituality are for bringing meaning into your soulless existence, utopian class traitors!

So you go down Main, take a left on Mulberry, right by the big church, and go---

    Slavery.

    Huh?

You can't mention the church without mentioning slavery.

I mean serfdom was the prevailing system of the time but were the serfs building cathedrals? I've assume that the big cathedrals were probably mostly built by skilled craftsman who were not serfs

Serf labor would still have been essential to the construction of the cathedrals even if the primary work on site was done by freemen. Someone had to quarry all of that stone, after all.

But that said bringing up serfs in a discussion that started off by assuming chattel slaves is :amogus:

Quarrying was typically done by free paid laborers though. Serfs were really an agriculture thing

That's true. I mean serfs were kind of slave like in some ways, but any discussion of slavery in a site like this where most discussion is centered around the US... I mean, medieval serfs had it pretty rough sometimes I guess but not as rough as a slave in the US

Religion is the sigh of the oppressed creature. But sure, go on attacking the sigh and not the oppression.

The way I see it labor aristocrats are more often atheist and poor people are religious and churchgoing.

Socialism is probably gonna have a hard time if it needs to be tied to anti-theism. The vast majority of working people around the world are religious.

Even the Bolsheviks had to shelve their radical atheism in the end, settling for reducing the political power of the church but not completely defanging it because keeping it around was essential for their alliance with the peasantry.
