My god. The extra insanity here is that this legitimizes Biden as an actual threat. Let me speculate here on the implications by assuming this will happen elsewhere. The Republicans will go far for victory so any challenger will be met with fury but from the perspective of the system itself, Biden is just as good or better. The part of the GOP that huffed the ideological farts (the low level rubes) are in charge though Trump can't see this so they genuinely believe Biden is a socialist Marxist communist. This makes it seem even more real.

WE know Biden won't be different, he has been the credit card company stooge his whole career and now his demented ass will be puppeteered by JP Morgan Chase C-suite lizards in his cabinet. But to everyone else, consider the message that is sent by openly sabotaging the upcoming election in a city seen as a Democratic radical stronghold in the culture war. Anyone less engaged than 'online politics addicted socialist' will see this as a final turn to fascism by Mango Mussolini and not the steady furthering of existing GOP tactics (if I may anticipate the media narrative). Both sides' partizans dug into their incoherent worldview in the last 4 years see Biden as a Maoist or Trump as Hitler. All partizan media will enforce this narrative.
I don't think this outcome is actively orchestrated but a united capital couldn't do a better job if they tried (again, assuming this will continue). The ultimate media spectacle: where everyone thinks a political struggle to the death 1. Is actually happening 2. Has to happen still through the electoral process. Nobody will realize both parties will facilitate post COVID corporate looting regardless, the race itself will obscure the looting even! Especially after the race were all energy has been spent impotently by caring about this crap at levels unseen previously.
I might be jumping to conclusions but my god, if this keeps going then Florida 2000 or redistricting and voter suppression done as subtly as possible will seem like child's play. This is so much more in the open and would be a much larger operation.

Eh, the problem is that it's a lot easier for Trump and the GOP as incumbents to take advantage of an election with inconclusive results compared to the challengers who won't have any institutional power until they win and are sworn in.
