Start viewing social democrat politicians as useful for getting broader societal discussions going around policies that might help the working class some and nothing more than that, and you'll be a lot less disappointed in the future.

I want to view them as exactly who the DSA should disown and if they're not disowning we need to change the org

I did think that, but the imperialist bullshit makes them way more useful to the destruction of actual socialism than they could ever be to progress here

This. Just adds to the stigma surrounding socialism and continues to give the right material to work with ie: have you seen what socialism has done Kooba and Vuvuzela?

The imperial core is never going to fall if socialism isn't supported abroad. The more socialist nations there are abroad to challenge imperialism the harder it will be for the imperial core to sustain itself.

This was the duty that (when it was not just an FBI front) CPUSA and its ilk so wonderfully carried out. They fucking dedicated themselves to being a means to promote and support revolution elsewhere, from the imperial core. They knew they could never do shit electorally, or even much organizing locally once the 50s turned around and everything was proven to be infiltrated. The one thing you can do is support the struggle of others, and if you cannot do that, if you cannot show basic solidarity with the one successful leftist revolution in our side of the equator, then you are the enemy.

No light improvement in america is worth extinguishing the fire of actual revolution. El Che in death is worth an infinite amount of AOCs and Bernies.

It doesn't matter if it is Cuba or if it is Catalonia. If it is revolutionary, the imperial machine will apply its exorbitant superprofits towards crushing it. You have the choice of being a cog in the global market hegemony, or being placed under siege. As long as imperialism continues - as long as capital must force its way into every nook and cranny - revolutionary states will be forced to operate under siege conditions.

The empire literally looks at these states like dominoes. The only thing they are interested in doing is toppling one after another after another. They put billions into Guaido, they did that coup in Bolivia. They just overruled the Haitian constitution to give the guy another year in office just to shoot him after six months. Now they're pressing Cuba. This shit is all connected. It is all a pattern. A procedure. A thing that we need to interrupt, not feed into.

Broader societal discussions about helping the working class are garbage without a global perspective

Any sort of discussions about what would help the American working class without a discussion of global imperialism is completely divorced of context at best

This is what she wrote: "We see Cubans rise up and protest for their rights like never before. We stand in solidarity with them and condemn the undemocratic actions led by President Díaz-Canel. The suppression of the media, speech and protests are serious violations of basic civil rights. We must also name the contribution of the United States to Cuban suffering: our embargo of almost sixty years. Last month, once again, the UN voted overwhelmingly to ask the United States to lift its embargo on Cuba. The embargo is absurdly cruel and, like many other US policies directed at Latin Americans, the cruelty is the point. I strongly reject the Biden administration's defense of the embargo. It is never acceptable for us to use cruelty as a point of influence against everyday people."

"Like never before" what does she think happened during the revolution? Few hundred people protesting is more than the amount during the Cuban Revolution. Literally spreading libshit imperial propaganda. You won't see her minions come out in here whenever she says CIA propaganda.

If this is what our “socdem to socialist pipeline” looks like then it’s doing more harm than good, killing anti-imperialist sentiments in the cradle. Opposition to imperialism should be a bare minimum for anyone serious about human liberation. AOC is utter trash for this.

I know libertarians with buckets full of shit takes but at least they are all about pulling the military out of everywhere but the 50 states and are strict non-interventionists. Starting to wonder if I prefer that to hearing from libs who want to use imperial power all over the place to crush socialism.

i know like hard ideological libertarians might believe that but we all know reality would be letting consortiums of corporations doing the imperialism directly west india company style.

What a joke. Americans need to stick to their own shit. Haiti and Cuba could easily have their issues worked out with the Caribbean community, but of course the US has to shove their face into every issue they know nothing about.

Can you really even call her a social democrat anymore? They are no longer trying to pass M4All or raise the minimum wage. This is basically young pelosi.

The imperialist shit makes me so close to being on th simple "AOC bad" train. I know there's points to be made about leftist pipelines and building any kind of leftism, but goddamn this is a top-tier issue in terms of worldwide violence. I would honestly rather have an anti-imperialist centrist lib.

How are you not after this? I refused to join that train until now, this is just beyond words. I feel fucking disgusting having ever defended her.

EDIT: nevermind, yeah this is bad but right after quoted tweet she calls the Embargo absurdly cruel. She's an imperialist lib but I'm getting tired of this place acting like rightwing trolls not even giving out full information. https://twitter.com/RepAOC/status/1415825886981545992/photo/1

Yeah, anti-imperialism is such a big issue that it'd basically make me a single issue voter if there were even any available to vote for.
