Any hopes/predictions for this one?

For me:

  • Apparently a leaker said they're working on a remake of the 1st Paper Mario, so that
  • Reveal the other 2 boards in Mario Party Superstars
  • Maybe more New Horizons updates? That game could desperately use some
  • The final Smash character, who I'll bet my left nut is Waluigi

maybe in another 1 and a half years it will have as much content as new leaf :cri:

If they left tools out of it or they didn't have shit durability then I'd be more forgiving. It just made normal maintenance and stuff a pointless hassle. God forbid you play at night, then you're back to the Stone age and have to build your way back from scratch if something breaks. Most days I wanna be playing for about 20-30 minutes. Take that shit slow so it lasts a while. Having my shit break and adding unexpected time to my game for the day fucks that whole thing up.

Oh, I mean the general Animal Crossing experience. Having to craft tools constantly is tedious, a lot of quality of life stuff like endless text and shitty dialogue based UI for normal stuff you're gonna do over and over is even worse than before and made more tedious cause you have to repeat some of it more because of having to re craft tools all the time. It just made everything a chore and if you just wanted to go fishing for fifteen minutes while watching a show or whatever before playing a different game or whatever like the series was designed for now had unexpected breaking tools and then you have to either spend your planned play time crafting a new fishing rod or play longer to do the mindless relaxing task you wanted to do. The half assed character dialogues, drip feeding you access early game and just a general lack of content that came out of the box in previous games just made the whole thing feel like a chore

See, I also thought it felt like a chore to play - but I've also felt like every other Animal Crossing game was a chore to play too, so it didn't feel wrong. With every one I've ended up sticking to it for about a month before losing interest and dropping off, with only the DS one coming close to becoming a habit because it was always in my pocket.

New Leaf was best cause of the portability. But the dude that created the series has said it's just meant to be picked up once a day for like 15 minutes, you do a few things and then do something else. Unless there's an event going on or whatever but those aren't meant to be a huge deal to miss either. I would smoke my after work joint, do my daily animal Crossing crap and be unwound. Putting interruptions that take extra time and forced you to do a chore you don't feel like doing at the time makes it real work and not self directed little bits of maintenance here and there.

Yeah I link New Leaf worked for me because I would play it on the bus or in the bathroom, but booting up a console to play something for 15 minutes just feels wrong and getting everything done for the day in Horizons felt like it was more of a 30-45 minute commitment. If I could play it like an idle game on my phone that would be perfect, but I've heard that the app is an MTX trap so I've avoided it.

Yeah, I downloaded it so it would be easy to boot up and I could just play in portable but it was too much. I played the hell out of the first as well but it was a new concept, everything took a long time to boot up at the time anyway and I was 10. But even then I'd just play for a half hour or so, which loading time was a big part of at times, and then play Wind Waker or whatever. I'd just do my Animal Crossing first and then play other games. My mom also loved it and when she was busy I'd get allowance for plucking the weeds in her town. We also made characters on each other's towns (she had her own memory card for her town) it was cute.

I loved my time with a game, but I eventually lost interest because of the desperately needed quality-of-life improvements that never came. The horrible multiplayer system, inability to use storage for crafting, tools constantly breaking, DIYs strewn everywhere because you can't store them...so many awful decisions that should have been corrected early on and were almost universally hated.

It's only been two years since 3 Houses. They usually don't come out that fast and when they do the quality drops and sales tank hard.

I'd be both super excited and apprehensive. FE4 done in sort of three houses style would be pretty dope in many aspects. If they do it, they have to make it fucking huge in scale though. I have issues with modern fire emblem but it does fit Genealogy pretty well. Also no weird time travel crap to keep first gen units for the second part or whatever. Thracian 776 would most likely wind up as Dlc

Thracian 776 was the best game of the series and it's not that fucking hard. You're on the run and fucking desperate, it's thematic difficulty and it gets easy as the story goes on. Also capturing was awesome.

Ah, I do like those the most but it's Kojima syndrome to make it all about one dude and those games are also all severely flawed. Honestly any fire emblem aside from 7 has an obvious flaws, 7 has the flaw of paying everything too safe. Fire Emblem is great but there honestly has never been an actually great game

My only worry is that it's Nintendo. They had a very successful experiment with BOTW with some very obvious flaws that could be ironed out in a sequel. Because it's Nintendo I'm guessing they're going to have most of the problems with BOTW intact but add a bunch of shit no one asked for. Some will be cool but it will be frustrating they didn't fix level scaling or adjust weapon durability and stuff like that.

I'll be honest I did not have that much of a problem with weapon durability. I learned to shield parry with basically keeps your shield intact, even if you are parrying Lyonel explosions or Guardian Lasers. I learned to dodge/quick attack, so I did not take durability damage on my weapons. But it definitely made for slower fighting. My biggest problem with BoTW was inconvenient rain patterns at the worst times. Korok hunting being tied to inventory expansion. The dungeons were SO short. And the Ganon fight was basically over in 10 minutes.

I want to see better boss fights, longer dungeons, a deadlier/more difficult final battle (I think Ocarina of Time really nailed the last boss fight).

I didn't mind durability too much either but can see where people are coming from. I think just a tiny boost in durability and a way of seeing how much durability is left at any time is fine. Rain was bullshit entirely, forgot that. I didn't mind korok hunting for inventory but there is definitely a better way.

Good dungeons are the biggest thing for me. I got sick of the shrine look pretty quick and more importantly i fucking hated the Divine beasts. The overall dungeon puzzle is all the same with finding and activating nodes and the gimmick is basically the same with moving the dungeon to do stuff. I don't like these kinds of puzzles in other games but they're used sporadically for the most part so it's fine. I generally prefer 2d game puzzles and don't think 3d games have ever worked as well. I think more branching lock and key puzzles that are a bit more exploration and combat based with fewer full on puzzles than previous games would fit better. Like Hyrule Castle is BOTW but better designed as a dungeon. Also the 3d maps are super hard to read.

Like Hyrule Castle is BOTW but better designed as a dungeon.

Better, longer, more boss fights (if you don't go up outside of the castle, you don't fight anything other than a few rooms full of goblins).

I'd like to see the weapon slowly breaking, or rusting, or cracking.

I think on general more transparency with stats would be good. I'm still not totally sure how shields work. If there's light RPG elements I'd just like to know what's going on more exactly. Also fix food, that shit was OP.

Twilight Princess was the first Zelda game to dissapoint me. I skipped Skyward Sword. The 3D formula felt stale for me by then. I played OoT near launch and still prefer 2D Zelda cause I'm weird. TP wasn't bad, I just found it underwhelming. I liked Wind Waker to.

Microsoft seems like they'd probably play ball right now. They don't really seem concerned about exclusivity as much, as far as I can tell. I've never had an Xbox and have never paid that much attention.

Edit: I just kinda realised I don't actually personally care about Rare titles getting in since I didn't really like any. I'm not into FPS or collectathon platformers. I really only want it for Star Fox and F Zero X and could really care less about anything else. Smash 64 online would be cool

As in the NES game? It's not really worth playing. Earthbound might eventually get there, Mother 3 will never ever ever be released officially in English and we all need to just accept it. Especially now, the message of that game wouldn't have hit nearly as hard in 2006, now it would be waaaaaay more controversial than Nintendo would ever allow

I just meant the entire series. Earthbound being released on the VC would be nice too. Especially because Ness and Lucas are like main smash characters...most kids playing it now can't even play those games.

I spent 9 years between first seeing Ness in Smash 64 and playing Earth Bound. If they cared they would have done it already. Fire Emblem 6 never got a release despite Roy. Captain Falcon is super popular but we have to seen a new F- Zero in almost twenty years and I'm still mad about it. Nintendo actively hates its customers and will do things to personally hurt you because they know you love them. Nintendo is an abuser.

The only thing that Nintendo could announce that would really blow me away is a new F-Zero. I just don't care about Metroid or Smash, and the only other stuff I'll probably buy on the Switch is the next 3D Mario and/or BOTW 2.

I'm gonna swing for the fences with. Persona 1 2 - IS/EP Remake to commemorate the Persona 25th and the SMT series getting closer to Nintendo.

Good news about one of the new Pokemon games would give me some hope. Didn't get SW/SH and these upcoming games don't really appeal to me unless I can transfer my 3DS games' Pokemon in their entirety.

I have ones from the game boy advance days. I don't want to put them in a bunch of different places.
