This is based on my limited knowledge, but a surprising amount of their media is anti-capitalist - even BTS read Marx

South Korea is basically little America in Asia. We made them a sub-colony after the war. The people will never see socialism as anything but oppression, but as Inequality and the cost of living grows, there will still be a demand for haves and have nots stories. You will get entertainment like Parasite and Squid game, but will anything happen to the rich? Nope

I've been seeing a lot of critique from korean speakers that the english translation/dub/sub severely waters down more of the class issues. and even still it's a class-heavy show.
they went for visual matching with the dub so that's not surprising

I guess I just read quickly enough that its not a problem, guess I never thought about that aspect
a lot of weebs meme on about how funimation had silly voices for Наруто or w/e but I've seen quite some horrors in the land of subs, it can be quite a shitshow. The translation could be wrong, the dialogue could disappear seconds earlier than natural reading speeds (relative to good subs), the subs could play at a faster or slower rate than the video (so you have to adjust the offset every 2-5 minutes), the subs could be internally wrongly paced, or for a different cut, they might cover hardcoded subs that you needed to be able to read.

I wish they'd say who the soldiers are. Like, it's clearly not something they entirely willingly signed up for. And it couldn't be the same way how they got people in the games, they're so emotionless.
I really liked it. The marble game episode was rough. There were many moments where I couldn't help but see the game as kind of a metaphor for capitalism itself
Didn't really like the ending at all, some real big "LOL fuck you I won't explain anything" BS at the end. Hated SAO for the same reason (and also SAO's other problems too)
Guess I'll watch it since everyone is bullying me into it by talking about the show.
