(If you are out of the loop, that’s okay! Kyle Rittenhouse is a chud kid who is on trial for murdering two protesters and injuring another in Kenosha, Wisconsin in the aftermath of protests over a police shooting that paralyzed Jacob Blake, a black man. There is a lot of news about the case circling around right now because the trial is ongoing.)

can you imagine getting into the legislative chamber while it's gavalled into session with loaded guns and failing to pass a single law?

inshallah, we'd never be so amatuerish.

It's still kind of amazing that they didn't even have four competent guys with rifles. Apparently the feds intercepted a bunch of people with guns but, like, no one got inside with a rifle? Holy shit I hope congress knows how insanely lucky they are, especially after the Capital Police decided to play "Whatever happens happens"

there were blurry pictures from the day of showing that they got rifles inside lol. it's amazing to me how much stuff gets memoryholed if you weren't literally glued to the right part of social media like it was your job at the time.

Shit I had no idea. I knew about handcuffs guy but I didn't think anyone else with a gun was inside. "Eye witness" accounts are so unreliable. You can't even trust your own memory to be accurate, even minutes after the event.

If there were a leftist president and the numbers Trump was pulling you're damn fucking right the left (actual left) have done the same and it wouldn't have just been a bunch of morons standing around or sitting in chairs. Honestly if 15% were legitimately in support of revolt it would be fucking go time right now.

There was a poll posted here awhile ago that showed that antifa had a lower approval rating than China (something like 10 vs 11%), black lives matter had an approval between 20 and 30%, police officers had >80% approval. All these numbers require a huge proportion of so called liberals to be on the wrong side.

You’re going crazy because legal-think is so removed from the everyday. I saw a thread talking about how the legally the ruling is correct; and I mean sure, that might be correct, I’m not a lawyer.

But just because something is legal doesn’t make it right, and that’s where the tension is. The legal system is losing validity in real time.

Fuck Rittenhouse and the minivan he rode in on, the game was rigged from the start

Too many law nerds like to pretend laws are consistent and apolitically applied.

They gunned down Michael Reinoehl when he was walking out his apartment, Trump literally called it "retribution", and he was probably doing as much or more self defense than Rittenhouse when he shot his guy but never got a trial which would be a sham because judges can get promoted for conservative bias but not the other way because the Federalist society is a shadowy group has its hands in the appointments of permanent positions.

I dispute that. The Kenosha Killer instigated the confrontation by pointing his gun at Rosenbaum. You can't claim self defense if you started the fight.

"The only thing that can stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun"

Guy bravely tries to stop an active shooter with a skateboard

"Why did he attack him with a skateboard?!?! Just de-escalate!"

Good guy with a gun tries to detain person who has now killed two people

"Why was he pointing a gun at him!?! He deserved to get shot!"

You know, the person you replied to was wrong about their race, but they're still correct in spirit. Every single Twitter argument I've read devolves into the fascist saying it was OK for KR to fire into a crowd because he happened to kill people with a criminal record. The idea being that because of their pasts, KR was still the good guy. Undoubtedly if the victims had been POC then the fascists wouldn't even feel the need to bring up any records, the victims' skin color would already prove that KR was the good guy with a gun.

Nah the news interogates POC's past all the time when things like this happen. Every time a kid gets shot by the police they tear his past apart to demonize him.

They were race traitors so they don't count.

Also, one was a convicted pedophile and the other two had criminal records, which makes it even easier to other them.

Because the overwhelming majority of white people - lib and chud alike - jerk themselves off so hard to the thought of nobly defending themselves and their property with deadly force against the crazed, invading brown hordes. They're not allowed to even think about just genociding non-whites, so this is the next best thing.

(and the actual race of the victims here isn't relevant, we all know how white folks view "protestors")

They were white guys out protesting the shooting of a black man, so they were race traitors, which is the worst thing a white guy can be.

Most of the responses I’ve been seeing in the libsphere on social media are either “Welllll, it technically was self-defense.” or “The Russian trolls are the only ones winning here.” I don’t know which response makes me more livid.

It was self defense if you ignore that he had just fucking shot and killed a man. If we had clear video of the first murder it would be very obvious, but we don't, so everyone gets to pretend that he was just defending himself from a skateboard rather than people trying to arrest (in the literal sense) an active shooter.

I'll take this opportunity to say that the guy who got his arm blown off would have died had he not had an Individual First Aid Kit (IFAK). Get an IFAK and get trained in how to use a tourniquet. You can pick one up for a few hundred dollars, which is steep, but cheaper than a rifle and arguably more important.

Really? I know I’m in a bubble but I thought it was mostly a lib bubble. I’ve had random coworkers say today “What the fuck, Kyle Rittenhouse got off.” I haven’t heard a single real person say it was justified.

Even if it's self-defense according to bourgeois law, that's a legal statement and not a moral one.

It's bad when nazis defend themselves and good when they die.

I think it's self defense in the US justice system, but that just goes to show how utterly flawed the US justice system is that you can barge into a situation with a weapon intending to use that weapon and still get off.

You can't, though. You can't instigate the violence and call it self defense. The case was in no way as one sided as people are making it out to be. This was largely political, as well as being influenced by bad faith on the part of the judge and prosecution.
